Full professor at the University of Hohenheim

 
The head of immunology and deputy leader of the Research Group "Wildlife Diseases" of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, PD Dr Volker Stefanski, leaves the IZW at the end of July 2009.

Dr Stefanski has accepted a position as full professor (W3) at the University of Hohenheim. His chair is designated as "Behavioural Physiology of Farm Animals" at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

Dr Stefanski has been the head of Immunology within the Research Group of "Wildlife Diseases" at the IZW since 2006.  Amongst other things, he was principal investigator of the project on "Investigations on Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE)-disease in mufflons from Germany" funded by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) and a project on the topic of "Stress and arthritis" in collaboration with the Universities of Bayreuth und Regensburg funded by the German Science Community (DFG).
