The scientific programme will be supplemented by an entertaining, yet informative, evening programme. Please find in the following information on the single events.

Poster & Pasta Party (Monday, September 30th, 2019), 18:30 - 21:00

The poster and pasta party will take place in close vicinity to the conference venue, in the New Greenhouse of the Botanic Garden (see address below).

You will be invited to enjoy and discuss poster presentations while having some good pasta and drinks.

For conference participants, participation in the poster and pasta party is included in the registration fee. If you would like to join the poster and pasta party, please indicate that during online registration.

If you would like to bring along one or two guest(s), please make the according booking during online registration.

Conference banquet (Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019), 19:00 - approx. 23:00

We will close the conference with a banquet in the restaurant of the Zoological Garden Berlin (see address below).

The banquet includes a welcome drink, a delicious buffet and beverages (19:00 - 21:00; after 21:00, beverages must be paid by participants themselves). There will also be great live music by the WWF band "PandaZ"!

Costs:
Regular ticket: 50 Euro
Student ticket: 35 Euro

Post conference excursion 1: Tierpark Berlin (Thursday, 3rd October 2019), 11:00 - 12:30

Accompanied by your personal Tierpark guide, you will experience an exciting tour through the species-rich world of the park with its more than 9000 animals. You will also learn about species conservation and breeding programmes of the Tierpark.

Time: Thursday, 3rd October 2019, 11:00 – 12:30 (guided tour)
After the guided tour you are free to continue your walk in the Tierpark on your own.

Cost: 10 €
The price includes entrance to the Tierpark and a 90 minutes guided tour.
Food and beverages are not included, but can be bought in one of the restaurants in the Tierpark.

Please note: We will not organize shuttle service. To get to the Tierpark (U-Bahn station “U Tierpark”), we recommend that you use public transport. From the conference venue Botanical Museum/Botanic Garden it takes approximately 1 hour to reach the Tierpark. For directions please see the website of the Berlin public transport company “BVG”.
In order to use public transport you need to buy a ticket, for example from one of the ticket machines at train stations, in the bus, or online. The ticket is valid for U-Bahn (underground), bus, tram and S-Bahn (train).

The excursion is subject to cancellation if registration is fewer than 10 people. In case of canellation we will refund you the full amount, of course.

Post conference excursion 2: Wild horses in Liebenthal and Cranes in Linum (Thursday, 3rd October 2019), 10:30 - approx. 20:30

This excursion will take you about 50 kilometers away from Berlin, to Brandenburg’s nature. The first stop will be a wild horse enclosure in Liebenthal. Go for a walk in the beautiful nature and observe Przewalski's horses, old breeds of domestic animals as well as the Liebenthal wild horse, a breed that lives exclusively in Liebenthal in a natural herd structure.

The second part will take you to the Linum pond areas, one of the largest resting grounds for wild birds in Central Europe, where tens of thousands of cranes and wild geese rest every autumn. You will have the opportunity to observe these fascinating birds. In the evening, the bus will bring you back to Berlin.

Time: Thursday, 3rd October 2019, 10:30 – approx. 20:30

Cost: 60 €
The price includes bus transfer from Berlin and back, guided tours in Liebenthal and Linum, cake, snacks and beverages.

Meeting point: Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), Alfred-Kowalke-Str. 17, 10315 Berlin. The bus will pick you up at 10:30 in front of the institute and bring you back at approximately 20:30.

To get to the meeting point IZW we recommend that you use public transport (to the tram station “Am Tierpark/Alfred-Kowalke-Str.” or U-Bahn station „U Friedrichsfelde“).  From the conference venue Botanical Museum/Botanic Garden it takes approximately 1 hour to reach the IZW. For directions please see the website of the Berlin public transport company “BVG”.
