The Leibniz-IZW is one of eight research institutes of the Leibniz Association which are joined together in the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (Berlin Research Alliance, FVB) and, while maintaining their scientific independence, exercise common interests within the framework of a uniform legal personality. The research institutes have a common administrative infrastructure (network administration). The organization of the FVB has enabled the development of high standards and important synergies in science, administration and governance.
The board of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. consists of the scientific directors of the institutes of the FVB and the managing director. Members of the FVB are the State of Berlin, the Federal Republic of Germany, the directors of the institutes and the managing director.
The supervisory body of the research network is the board of trustees. It is responsible for the supervision of all essential scientific-political, programmatic and economic matters of the FVB.
