Short curriculum vitae

Kristin Mühldorfer is a veterinary wildlife bacteriologist at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW). She graduated at the Department of Veterinary Medicine from the Freie Universität Berlin and concluded her doctoral thesis in 2012 on diseases and infectious agents of bats. In 2013 she moved to the Institute of Poultry Diseases at the Freie Universität Berlin where she was responsible for the bacteriology and serology labs, associated doctoral students and education. Since Dec 2014 she is back at the IZW and head of the bacteriology. Her research interests lie in the field of wildlife diseases particularly novel infectious agents and emerging bacterial pathogens, and the development of reliable disease diagnostics for wildlife species. In 2020 she was accepted by the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation as a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology.
